yeah, that usually causes problems when you have a long and huge animation, especially in a not-so-high-end computer. Just wait it out for a while. It's trying to load all of the frames correctly and stuff, so yea (it's not responding because it's still loading the animation).

well it also closes due to error and says that it was unresponsive, i was using a real photo as a backaround, would that have been the problem?

no it shouldn't have been. Wait, are you trying to import the .piv or the .gif? it should be .gif. You can't import the .piv. you have to save it as .GIF.

If you are trying to import it as GIF, then it's probably because it is a big file to import. a program becomes unresponsive when it's loading something or kind of stuck in an error loop. While it's loading, the program will usually not respond to your clicking until it finishes loading whatever it's loading (or in this case importing).

and how come it's 10Mb? my longest one (which is more than 1000 frames) is 8Mb. what resolution did you use and did you save it as less than 100% resolution(size)?

oh, GIF is an image format, commonly used for small/non-realistic images. GIF can also be animated, which the Pivot program can render to.

So, GIF = image type.

It still shouldn't be a problem if you use a real photo as a background, but it might lose some coloration due to GIF (because GIFs are usually only 16-bit (16 colors strictly)).

meaning, the photo might look weird after converting.

Read the thread (which is in the same section) that says "Convert my animation into Video...Help please". It won't necessarily explain what GIFs are, but it will let you import the converted Pivot files to WMM.
